About Dr Tay

Dr Eugene Tay is the Medical Director and Consultant Ophthalmologist at Singapore Vision Centre (SVC), a Singapore Medical Group (SMG) Clinic.

He was previously a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Laser Vision Centre, Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC).

Dr Tay specialises in cataract surgery, glaucoma management, retinal disease management, laser refractive surgery including ReLEx SMILE (Refractive Lenticular Extraction, Small Incision Lenticular Extraction), LASIK, Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA) such as LASEK, oculoplastic surgeries and general ophthalmology.

In 1997, he graduated from St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College of the University of London that has a distinguished tradition dating back to 1123. He obtained a Master of Science degree in Immunology from Imperial College, London in 1999 where he had the opportunity.

Dr Tay has been in the practice of ophthalmology since 1999 and received basic and advanced surgical training at the internationaly renowned Moorfields eye Hospital in London. He has worked at other London teaching hospitals such as the Western Eye Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.

He also holds memberships in professional associations such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and International Society of Refractive Surgery

Dr Tay completed a Fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital in 2009 and an Anterior Segment and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at the Gimbel Eye Centre in Canada in 2010. He is trained in a wide variety of anterior segment and oculoplastic surgeries and has published in many international medical journals and participates regularly in international conferences.

His clinical interests include advanced cataract and laser refractive techniques.
