Upon his return, he went on to exit in Hand Surgery in 2002, to become the only surgeon to date to exit in both Orthopaedic and Hand Surgery. He has been working in Tan Tock Seng Hospital since 1996.

His passion is in good patient care.

Dr Chew also has a passion for teaching, and is the Adjunct Assistant Professor of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine of NUS, and for his efforts, he was awarded the “Top 10 Teachers” award by Tan Tock Seng Hospital in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009, and was also conferred the “Outstanding Teacher Award” in Orthopaedics undergraduate teaching by NUS in 2009-2010. He is currently in the Residency Advisory Committee (RAC) of the Residency Training Programmes for both Orthopaedic Surgery and Hand Surgery.
